The sneaky dog session!

Friday, January 9th, 2009  |  canine

Rusty and Daisy did a great job keeping their little photo session a secret from Allen, their owner! Allen’s friend, Deanna, takes care of Rusty and Daisy when Allen has to travel and she thought it would be a nice surprise to do some photos of Rusty and Daisy as a holiday gift! Since Allen travels so much we figured it would be a piece of cake to do photographs without him knowing. We scheduled our date and the sneaky dog session was a go. But, uh-oh, turned out Allen didn’t travel that weekend! So our sneaky dog session suddenly became even sneakier! I drove to our designated location near Allen’s home and waited for Deanna to bring Rusty and Daisy to me. It really was quite exciting. We couldn’t go too far, or take too long for fear that we would be discovered! We worked fast and had some fun and few laughs too!

The other night we surprised Allen with a beautiful and touching Cool Pets multimedia presentation of his beautiful dogs! Merry Christmas!

The timing was interesting though. Poor Daisy has been having ongoing troubles with her front leg that were getting worse. Her vet had decided that the best solution would be surgery to remove the leg that was causing so much pain. So, Daisy’s surgery was scheduled for the very next day. :-(

Daisy had her surgery yesterday, and she is doing well. She’ll be coming home this evening, so please send good thoughts her way!

Here’s Daisy. She is just the sweetest little thing, and was very into having her photograph taken!

And, here is Rusty. He is a big, soft teddy bear…very mild mannered and shy….a genuinely good guy. Rusty is also a cancer survivor!

I did the post really late last night (early this morning) and I just realized that I forgot one of my favorite images!! I just added it…check it out!! :-)

Pretzel is a heart stealer.  Just one look at that little dachshund face of his, and your heart is sure to melt.  He is the perfect little guy.  We’ve never actually, seriously, wanted to stuff a client’s dog in the camera bag and take him home…until Pretzel! ;-)

And, Tinkerbelle…well she is just crazy!  Crazy, silly, and happy!  Her eyes are like nothing I have ever seen before on any dog!  And Diana is perfect for them.  She laughs at their silliness and just lets them be themselves.

The whole session, from start to finish was just plain fun!

This one below…I just love it. Look at Pretzel’s little face. His expression kills me!

.friday face of the week.

Friday, January 2nd, 2009  |  friday face of the week

This week, I thought it might be time for a cat! Gunther was definitley a pleasure to photograph. According to his owner, he never comes around when there is company, and people don’t even believe a cat lives in the house! But, for whatever reason, Gunther found Eryn and I quite interesting and really seemed to enjoy his photo session! We truly love cats, and Gunther was such a great subject.

Happy Friday Face!

Rebecca and DD

Rebecca was a favorite client of mine. I photographed her a couple of times along with her beautiful husky DD and her son Matt. Photographs were important to Rebecca. She had a strong passion for photographs and the memories they hold.

Last fall, Rebecca called me for a session with herself, DD, Matt and the new man in her life…Frank. Rebecca simply glowed during the session, and I remember telling her many times, just how beautiful she looked. She was surrounded by those she loved most and, hopefully, I was able to capture that in the photographs.

On December 31 – just two days ago, Rebecca passed away from pancreatic cancer. She had been battling it for a while. I still cannot believe she is gone, and when I look at the photographs below, I can only remember her smile, her laugh and her love for Matt, DD and Frank. She was a strong, successful woman and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends in this time of unbelievable sorrow.

My absolute, hands down, most favorite photograph of all that I created of Rebecca. This was her.

Having some fun

Thursday, January 1st, 2009  |  people portraits, personal, shows

Remember the red door shot from Ursinus College?  How could you forget, it’s only a few posts down!  :-)

So, this is what I do for fun. As all of my clients know, I love setting images to music. I love music. As a matter of fact, I used to sing in a small band. Love to sing. Love music. Love photography set to music.

Occasionally, when I hear a song for the first time, I am struck by the fact that I need to use it as a background for some of my images.

Such was the case when I heard this song. Right at about the midway point of “Twilight” is the baseball scene…which may be arguably the absolute best scene in the movie. ;-) Great scene, great action, great music….Super Massive Black Hole…an amazing song by Muse.

So, yesterday I sat down with the images from the “red door” sitting and Super Massive Black Hole… and created this…a pretty fun show. I really think the images were perfect for the song, since my daughters and nephews…although they are most definitely not vampires….do “bad ass” pretty darned well.

Now remember, I am biased when it comes to these subjects!
