Saturday, November 29th, 2008  |  life, people portraits

On Thursday (Thanksgiving day) I finally got to do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Last minute, I decided to grab my nephews and my daughters for some quick, but hopefully cool photos. It really was last minute; the turkey was waiting…impatiently ;-)

But, luckily, we managed to pull a few off.

Ursinus College’s campus is absolutely gorgeous and just full of great locations.

I actually went to Ursinus College – for a week….but that’s a whole different story! Anyway….we ran around grabbing shots on the fly…here and there.

Here’s a peek.

Aren’t they cool?

Nope, I’m not biased.

Not at all.  :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 27th, 2008  |  life, people portraits

I hope this day finds you warm, lazy, healthy and loved. Whoever you spend your day with… friends, family, pets, humans…whoever, relax and ENJOY!

We’re trying a new recipe I found on Blog Nosh. It’s a little scary, because there are only TWO ingredients – pumpkin and spice cake mix. Easy enough, but we shall see! 20 minutes in the oven, two ingredients, healthy goodness? Who could ask for more!

Try it, we are!

Just a little reminder…Christmas is coming! It’s just around the bend. Are you ready?

Happy Thanksgiving!

.Friday Face of the Week.

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008  |  Dolce, friday face of the week

This week’s face belongs to Izzy.  She visted the very first Cool Booth at the Urban Hound a few weeks ago.

And, wait, I think Izzy has something she would like to say!

Weimaraners are pretty cool, I think. Now, if you have been following my blog, you know that my family dog when I was a child was Silver Inga of Gwynedd, a weimaraner. So, yes, I do have a special place in my heart for this breed. However, photographically speaking, weimaraners can basically do no wrong in front of a camera. Their look is so….unusual, their lines so extreme that no matter what they do, they look pretty darned cool.

Kind of like…well, Dolce for instance. Yes, my cat Dolce, the oriental shorthair. Orientals share that same extreme look. Exotic. And, they look pretty cool no matter what they do.

Even if they are desperately trying to get your attention by sitting smack dab in front of your computer screen while you are trying to work!

Me: “Dolce, get down, I can’t see my screen!”

Dolce: “I’m not paying any attention to you.”

Stubborn little man.

Ahhh. Those OSH’s (oriental shorthairs). I just love ‘em!

Happy Friday Face (and feet!)

Friday Face of the Week….on Tuesday??

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008  |  friday face of the week

I was so so so busy in my Cool Booth friday night, that I never got to my Friday Face of the Week post.  I was going to just let it pass, but I decided to post today!

Doesn’t this photo just make you smile?  I think it totally and completely personifies the word “JOY”.  Because, what is more joyful than a puppy in your arms and a puppy at your feet!

Happy Friday…er, Tuesday Face!

(for you Ron & Jen) :-)

Did you miss the last Cool Booth? Well, then this is your chance! Friday evening I’ll be bringing the booth to the Canine Creature Comforts Yappy Hour. Come and join the fun! There will be munchies, beer and wine for the humans and unlimited running and playing for the pooches! It’s a socialization extravaganza!

And, then, you can step into the Cool Booth for some crazy photos with you and your dog, or just your dog, or heck, just you! :-) Anything goes in the Cool Booth!

Check out the Dog-O-Ween Cool Booth photos below to see just what happens!

Space is very limited, time is short, so reservations are highly recommended. Please call the Canine Creature Comforts to schedule your time.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be going to the Cascade Beagle Rescue East.

See you Friday!

**Special note for all of you Dog-O-Ween Cool Booth participants. Your link is coming!!

.Friday Face of the Week.

Friday, November 7th, 2008  |  friday face of the week

So…..this week I want to hi-lite not only the face, but the breed behind the face.

The face belongs to Joey. What a story our sitting was. A surprise gift for Joey’s owner who’s boyfriend (now fiance) arranged everything. He even snuck Joey out for the sitting. It really was special. One of those things, that I am so thankful that I can be a part of!!

And, the breed, is pitbull. Pitbulls, like many other breeds, get such a bad rap. But, I am here to tell you that it’s more of a “stereotype” than anything. This past year I photographed several pit bulls. Each one, extremely happy, loving, eager to please and Joey was all of those. She was ADORABLE!!

So, here she is….this week’s Face…..Joey!

Happy Friday Face!

Holly (take two)

Thursday, November 6th, 2008  |  canine

I got to see Holly last night!  I went over to her house to show her mom and dad the photos from our session.  I posted a Holly image a while back, but this session was a surprise for Holly’s dad so I didn’t want to spoil anything by showing too many photos!

So, now, that the cat is out of the bag…here a few more of Holly!

It was a very hot day when we did these photos.  Holly was hot, I was hot, my daughter/assistant, Eryn was hot!  Thank goodness Holly likes to swim!

A couple before swimming..

Holly is 12 years old, but she LOVES to swim and fetch. And, she is a darn good swimmer. She glides through the pool like, well, like buttah!

“Please, please, Eryn, just one more throw?”

Look out Santa, someone’s coming for you!

GOTCHA!!

Ah! Refreshing!

Now for a little “behind the scenes” look at what a Cool Pets photo session is like. Eryn and I have so much fun working with each and every one of our subjects. As Eryn gets older and busier, I don’t always have her there to help. But on Holly’s session, she and I had so much fun trying to get Holly where we wanted her, when we wanted her there.

So, here is an outtake.
Me yelling: “Eryn, I can see you! GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!!!”
Eryn yelling back: “I am! AHHHHHHHH!”

Good times, baby, good times.

Friday Face of the Week

Saturday, November 1st, 2008  |  friday face of the week

Muggins. He’s an original.

I photographed Muggins early in my Cool Pets career and he set the stage for great things to come. He is definitley a Cool Pets classic. During his sitting, his “mom” Barbara pulled out a couple of Muggins’ favorite costumes.

So, in honor of Halloween, I give you this week’s Friday face, the one and only, Muggins.

Happy Friday Face!
